The purpose of this research was to improve a recruitment process through lean mindset resulting to increase the flow efficiency of the process and encourage towards a better service quality. The research aimed to examine the current recruitment process and to find wastage that consists of inefficient, time-consuming, or unnecessary characteristics in the recruitment process. The study was carried out as a case study for a co-operation company whose name is not published in this thesis.
Theoretical framework examines the recruitment concept and future challenges of the recruitment industry. It includes the traditional phases in the recruitment process and thoughts how current pandemic situation, and technology development changes the industry. Besides, the concept of lean philosophy provided the important elements of lean and its suitability to the recruitment industry.
The multi-method was used to this research as it provided to examine the research phenomenon widely. The research data was collected partly through theory and partly through conducted interviews and survey in the empirical research.
The results revealed that the recruitment industry is in transition into automation where the work efficiency will increase through artificial intelligence and data management. The empirical research indicated the most significant wastages occurred in the areas of communication, standardization of work and the lack of process functionality. Therefore, the new development suggestions were presented by developing the process implementation and its functionality as well as improving the timely communication where the automatization is partly involved.
Further research is required to establish the recruitment efficiency from the client and candidate perspective in terms of increase the recruitment process efficiency in quality.
