Nuorten ja Vetskari-projektin kohtaaminen koulukontekstissa

Abstract

Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena oli selvittää Vetskari-projektin ja nuorten kohtaamista kouluympäristössä. Vetskari-projektille on tärkeää saada tietoa nuorten käsityksistä projektista. Opinnäytetyössämme tutkimme, mitä käsityksiä nuorilla ja koulun oppilashuoltoryhmän jäsenillä, sekä terveystiedon opettajalla on Vetskari-projektista.

Avio- tai avoero koskettaa Suomessa vuosittain arviolta jopa 60 000 lasta ja nuorta. Valitettavasti nuorten tukemiseen vanhempien erotessa ei ole kiinnitetty paljoa huomiota. Vetskari-projekti on Suomen Kasvatus- ja Perheneuvontaliiton projekti, joka keskittyy auttamaan nuoria, joiden vanhemmat ovat eronneet tai eroamassa. Yhtenä projektin toimintamuotona on eroaiheiset keskustelu- ja informaatiotilaisuudet helsinkiläisissä yläkouluissa.

Toteutimme opinnäytetyömme tutkimuksen Vetskari-projektin keskustelu- ja informaatiotilaisuuteen osallistuneille oppilaille tehtävillä teemahaastatteluilla sekä koulun kuraattoria, rehtoria ja terveystiedon opettajaa haastattelemalla. Osallistuimme myös havainnoimaan yhtä Vetskari-projektin keskustelu- ja informaatiotilaisuutta. Havainnointi oli tutkimuksemme tukimetodi ja teemahaastattelut päämetodi.

Tutkimuksestamme ilmeni, että sekä oppilaat, että koulun rehtori, kuraattori ja terveystiedon opettaja suhtautuivat Vetskari-projektin eroaiheen käsittelyyn koulussa myönteisesti. Aiheen käsittely oli kaikkien haastateltavien mukaan tärkeää ja sopi hyvin koulussa käsiteltäväksi. Haastattelemiltamme oppilailta saimme myös paljon kehitysehdotuksia keskustelu- ja informaatiotilaisuuksien sisällöstä.

Tutkimuksemme mukaan nuoret tarvitsevat ja haluavat tietoa vanhempiensa eroon liittyvistä asioista. Nuoret haluavat tulla kuulluksi. Siksi nuoret tarvitsevat tukea tilanteessa, jossa heidät usein jätetään huomiotta. Vetskari-projektin keskustelu- ja informaatiotilaisuudet nuorille on hyvä keino lähestyä nuoria heidän omassa luonnollisessa ympäristössään. Eroaiheen ja nuorten kohtaaminen on haaste, mutta kouluympäristö on aiheen käsittelylle tarpeellinen konteksti.

Juvenile and Vetskari-project meeting in schoolcontext

The purpose for our thesis was to give Vetskari-project material for their project. The main research problem for our thesis was to find out, how Vetskari-project is received in school environment. We wanted to find out what the school’s pupils, the principal, the social worker of the school and the health education teacher had to say about the project.

Divorces are common in Finland. Unfortunately the young ones in families are often paid no attention when these crises like divorce are happening in a family. Vetskari-project gives support to youngsters going through divorce in a family. It is a Finnish Kasvatus- and Perheneuvontaliitto´s project. The project arranges classes for youngsters in elementary schools in Helsinki. The classes are meant to give youngsters information about divorce in a family and a chance for conversation.

We made the research for our thesis by interweaving nine pupils that had taken apart in Vetskari-project´s classes. We also interweaved the principal of the school, the social worker of the school and the health education teacher. As a supporting research method we took apart in Vetskari-project´s classes. The interviews were the main research method.

Our research showed, that school is a good environment to talk about divorces in families. The pupils we interweaved thought it is a good thing that this subject is taken seriously and informed in schools. Also the principal, the social worker of the school and the health education teacher took the subject positively. They also thought school is a right place to discuss about this subject.

The Young ones want to be heard. They also need information about situations when divorce is current in their family. That is why there is good to be projects like Vetskari-project. It is sometimes hard to reach the young ones, especially when the subject is this awkward. In school it is a natural way to reach youngsters with this subject.
