Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyöni aihe on Asunnossani kummittelee!-nettisarjakuvani tekstaaminen suomeksi ja englanniksi.
Tutkin miten käännöksen sijoittelu sarjakuvan sivulle vaikuttaa lukijakokemukseen. Esittelen sarjakuvan lukemisen teoriaa, ja etsin tapaa sijoittaa käännös jo piirrettyyn sarjakuvaan, katkomatta lukemisen polkua. Vertaan Suomen sarjakuvatekijöiden tämän hetkistä tekstaamista sarjakuvissa perinteiseen sarjakuvien tekstaamiseen, ja haen näistä apua kielten erottamiseen visuaalisesti.
Työni lopputulos on sarjakuvan ensimmäiset 20 sivua muokattuna ja tekstattuna sisältämään alkuperäisen suomen kielen ja englanninkielisen käännöksen tämän rinnalla. The subject of my thesis is the process behind lettering in My apartment is haunted! webcomic in Finnish and English.
I researched how the placement of the translation on the comic page affects the reading experience. I present the theory behind comic reading and look for a way to insert a translation into a comic, that has already been created. I compare the comic text writing styles of contamporary Finnish comic creators and the tradition of text in comics, and look from there for tools to separate the languages in my work visually.
The end result is the first 20 pages of the comic edited to have the original Finnish language and translated English language by it’s side.
