Tiivistelmä
Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tutkia, miten hengitysharjoitteet vaikuttavat
kroonista kipua kokevan kipukokemukseen ja millainen vaikutus kipuun on puolison
osallistumisella harjoitteluun. Lisäksi tutkittiin etäyhteyden soveltuvuutta hengitysharjoitusten ohjaukseen.
Osallistujat haettiin Suomen Kipu ry:n sosiaalisten mediatilien kautta.
puolisoiden osallistuminen koettiin positiiviseksi asiaksi. Osallistujien mielestä hengitysharjoitteiden ohjaus etäyhteyksien välityksellä toimi hyvin. Puolison voisi ottaa paremmin huomioon kroonisen kivun hoidossa, jolloin hän voisi ymmärtää kipukroonikon
kipua paremmin. Etäyhteyden käyttömahdollisuutta tulisi hyödyntää myös hengitysharjoitteiden ohjauksessa. The purpose of this thesis was to study whether breathing exercises affect chronic
pain levels. The second research question was whether the spouse joining in the exercises would affect the pain levels of the participant. We also studied the suitability of
remote communication for instruction of breathing exercises.
Participants applied via Suomen Kipu ry social media. Participants were between the
ages of 25-55 and they had experienced pain for over three months. The study consisted of two study groups; the participants were able to choose which group to join
depending on their current situation. In the Y-group, participants did the exercises
alone, and in the P-group they trained together with their spouses. Data were gathered
by two web surveys. The study intervention lasted for six weeks, during which participants took part in a weekly remote therapy session. In addition to this, they were given
a recorded exercise to do at home, which was recommended to be completed twice a
week.
Any reading which represented pain did not change (p>.05). The participation of
spouses was perceived as a positive experience in the P-group. Participants reported
that doing breathing exercises with remote instruction worked well. In chronic pain
treatment should take a notice spouses. That way they could better understand their
spouses who suffer from chronic pain. Remote instruction is usable option for breathing exercises.
