Sosiaalisten tarpeiden huomioiminen kotihoidossa -työkirjan kehittäminen vastuuhoitajalle

Abstract

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kehittämistyönä yhteistyössä toimeksiantajan kanssa. Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantaja oli yksityinen hoiva-alan yritys Kotipalvelu Päivikki. Kehittämistehtävänä oli edistää sosiaaliset tarpeet huomioivaa työotetta ikääntyneiden kotihoidossa. Työn tuotoksena syntyi työkirja vastuuhoitajalle. Työkirjan tarkoitus on olla osa yrityksen vastuutyöntekijämal-lia ja tuotettua materiaalia voidaan käyttää niin nykyisen henkilökunnan kouluttamiseen kuin uuden työntekijän perehdyttämiseen. Tavoitteena oli lisätä ymmärrystä siitä, mitä sosiaaliset tarpeet ovat ja mikä on sosiaalisten tarpeiden merkitys kokonaisvaltaiselle hyvinvoinnille. Taustalla vaikutti toive sosiaali- ja terveysalojen vuoropuhelun lisäämisestä. Teoreettisena lähtökohtana opinnäytetyössä oli gerontologinen viitekehys. Teoriapohjassa perehdyttiin yksilövastuiseen hoivatyöhön, sosiaalisten tarpeiden määrittelyyn ja hyvinvointi-teorioihin. Työkirjan kokoamisessa hyödynnettiin kehittämistyön perusteita ja tutkimuksellista työotetta. Kehittämismenetelmänä käytettiin teorian soveltamisen lisäksi kyselytutkimusta, jonka avulla kartoitettiin hoitajien ajatuksia sosiaalisten tarpeiden tunnistamisesta ja niiden tukemisesta asiakastyössä. Kyselyllä pyrittiin selvittämään lähtötilannetta ja rajaamaan kehitystyön tavoi-tetta, sekä lisäämään työn hyödynnettävyyttä. Arvioinnissa tarkasteltiin koko opinnäytetyöprosessia. Toimeksiantajalta ja yrityksen työnteki-jöiltä saatua palautetta hyödynnettiin arvioinnissa ja prosessia pohdittiin oman oppimisen näkökulmasta. Saadun palautteen perusteella työkirjan vastaanotto on ollut kiinnostunutta ja työkirja on herättänyt uutta keskustelua. Työkirjan tehtäviä on otettu heti kokeiluun asiakas-työssä. Palautteen perusteella voidaan todeta työkirjan hyödynnettävyyden ja kiinnostavuuden olevan tavoitteiden mukaista. Opinnäytetyötä ja kehittämistyön tuotosta voidaan hyödyntää laajemmalti ikäihmisten parissa työskennellessä. Jatkokehittämiseksi on mietitty työntekijöiden lisäkoulutusten järjestämistä aiheesta sekä työntekijöiden omien menetelmäideoiden keräämistä.

The thesis was carried out as a form of development work in cooperation with the client and was commissioned by a private home care company. The development aim was to promote an approach that takes the social needs of the elderly into account in a home care setting. As an outcome a workbook for the use of primary nurses was born. The purpose of the workbook is to provide a framework for the company's primary nurse system model, as well as to use the ma-terial both to train the current staff and to familiarise any new employees with their upcom-ing tasks. The objective was to increase understanding of what social needs there are and what is the importance of social needs in holistic well-being of the elderly. The desire to in-crease dialogue between the social and health care sectors was also an influential motivator for this study. The theoretical approach for this thesis was a gerontological framework, that consisted of individual care approach, defining the existing social needs, and various theories to do with holistic well being. The basics for the development work as well as the research approach were used to compile the workbook. The development method used was an interview ap-proach, where the thoughts and experiences of the nurses, regarding how to identify the el-derly people`s social needs and how to best support this in work setting, were viewed for awareness. The interviews were aimed at wanting to clarify what the current situation was, as well as defining the goal for the development work yet needed and to provide tools for practi-cal use. When evaluating the outcome the entire process of the thesis work was emphasized. First the feedback from the client and the employees was observed and then the process was consid-ered from the perspective of our own personal learning journey. Based on the feedback, the workbook has been received with genuine interest and has encouraged conversation on the topic. There has also been willingness to already try some of the tasks mentioned in the work-book in a real life setting at the customer`s work place. Based on the feedback, it can be concluded that the usability and attractiveness of the workbook is in line with the objectives. The thesis and the outcome of this development work can be utilized widely in any work with the elderly. The information in the thesis and workbook is generally applicable. One of the proposals for further development was to organize more training for the employees on the subject.
