Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this study was to analyse the factors that prohibit international workers from gaining employment in the Häme region, in an attempt to answer the research question “What are the different barriers that impede companies in the Häme region from employing qualified international workers? ”, This study was based on the idea that different factors have created a wicked problem that prevents international workers from successfully being able to join the work force in the Häme region.
Primary and secondary data was researched and analysed using the primary research methodology. Several theories were utilized including wicked problems theory and the four types of discrimination theory. Information was collected from literature related to the study.
Primary data was collected through a survey from April 27 to May 7, 2021. The survey was 14 questions long and comprised of both multiple choice and open answer questions. The survey has a total of 101 participants.
The results of the study showed that there are significant factors leading to why international workers in the Häme region are impeded when gaining employment. these factors include language barriers, prejudice, Finnish bureaucracy, and cultural difference. Further study is needed to understand how these barriers can be eliminated, as well as more specific research into different regions within Finland and industries.
