Tiivistelmä
The topic of this thesis was leadership in a sports and work environments. The aim of the work was to compare the leadership styles of the sports and working life environment that have been used by people in management positions. The purpose of the thesis was to map out, with the help of qualitative research, how management differs between different organizational environments. The objective was to bring new perspectives from leadership styles to different organizations and operating environments.
The knowledge base of the work was prepared by utilizing articles and professional literature. The knowledge base opens up ; leadership in general, the most commonly used leadership styles, human resource management, and leadership in these mentioned environments. In addition, the work describes the whole research process. The thesis was carried out as a qualitative study, the material of which consisted of interview material from a total of six people interviewed in sports and working life environments. Three people from management positions in both environments were interviewed which were conducted as thematic interviews.
The main results of the thesis were observations of a sports environment in which different management styles are used in a more diverse way, and on the other hand, more management styles are perceived as more difficult to implement in the working environment. The conclusions of this thesis were a versatile combination of leadership styles, meaning the utilization of several management styles to make management holistic. The results can be used in further research and in the development of the management culture of these work environments. The names of the participants in the thesis interviews as well as the organizations represented by the interviewee have been kept confidential.
