Omatoiminen melontatuote matkailijan oppaana : Tainionvirran melontareitin kehittäminen

Abstract

Tämä toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö käsittelee melontatuotteen kehittämistä omatoimimatkailijan tarpeiden näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimi Outdoors Finland Etelä -hanke sekä Hartolan ja Sysmän kunnat.

Teoriaosuudessa tarkastellaan melontaa aktiviteettimatkailuna, omatoimimatkailuna ja miten toimintaympäristö eri keinoin vaikuttaa matkailijan päätöksiin. Työn tavoitteena oli tehdä Tainionvirran nykytilan inventaatio, jonka avulla voidaan osoittaa tarve Tainionvirran hankesuunnitelmalle.

Opinnäytetyön tuotoksena syntyi yksityiskohtainen nykytilan inventaatio Tainionvirran melontareitistä, GPS-jälki ja osoitus Tainionvirran hankesuunnitelman tarpeesta. Lisäksi jokaiselle melontaetapille on tehty kehittämisehdotukset.

Inventaatio osoitti Tainionvirran melontareitti -profiilin sopivan vähän kokemusta omaaville melojille, mutta reitin palvelutaso ja viitoitusjärjestelmä ei vastaa samaa tasoa. Kehittämällä ennakkomateriaalia, rakentamalla reitille viitoitusjärjestelmä sekä kunnostamalla taukopaikkoja luotaisiin Tainionvirrasta kunnat yhdistävä ja edullinen virkistyspalvelukohde.

This functional thesis deals with developing a canoing product to cover the needs of an independent traveler. This thesis was authored by the request of Outdoors Finland South -project, and municipalities of Hartola and Sysmä.

The Theory section covers canoing as a part of activity-based tourism, independent traveling and how the physical aspects of the route can affect a traveler`s a behaviour. The goal for the thesis was to make an inventory of the present state of the Tainionvirta canoe trail, which will show a need for a developing plan -project.

As a result of the thesis a detailed inventory of the present state was made, GPS-trace of the trail was created and evidence collected that indicates the need for the development project of the Tainionvirta canoe trail.

The Inventory showed that the profile of Tainionvirta canoe trail is suitable for soft-adventure seekers, but the service quantity doesn’t reach the level that is needed for the segmented group. By building signs and improving the landfall sites, it would create economical recreation services for the regions of two municipalities.
