The aim of this thesis was to find out the opinions from the Päijät-Häme Central Hospital`s outpatient clinics staff about the usefulness of the Best Reception pilot project, to improve the functionality of their own work. The best reception is a concept originally introduced from Sweden to Finland in the 1999s, which focuses on improving access to health care. The main goal of the project is to improve access to care, increase the management of one's own work, and introduce work development tools in social and health care.
The outpatient clinics of Päijät-Häme Central Hospital can utilize the results of the research to promote the availability of the outpatient clinic's reception activities, the smoothness of their own work, and to strengthen interprofessional co-operation.
The results of the survey showed that most respondents considered that nurse - doctor co - operation had improved in part because of the project and appointment books were designed based on urgent and unhurried days. Most respondents also thought that the consultation with nurses had increased from the project. Based on the responses the changes brought from the project have been temporary and there have been no significant improvements to the outpatient clinics in the longer term.
