Tiivistelmä
Brazil is among the largest markets worldwide, especially for social services and the medical industry. Growing socio-economic ties with foreign manufacturers of medical equipment contribute to the development of the domestic market.
The thesis was prepared for PAL Finland Oy, which specializes in the production, sales, and marketing of medical equipment. The company plans to start exporting an alcohol biometer named Albio in Central and South American countries.
The purpose of the research is to analyse the business opportunities of PAL Finland Oy in Brazil. The objective is to execute market research on the target country so that the commissioner is aware of internationalization in Brazil. The sub-questions consider methods for measuring blood alcohol levels in Brazil, the target customers and a comparison of local competitors and partners.
The research included a qualitative approach to gain reliable data reflecting the current market conditions. Based on interviews with the commissioner and materials of Business Finland, as well as other sources, the thesis project was created in which market conditions were analysed using SWOT and PESTLE tools.
The results of the research show that the demand for exported medical products and services in Brazil has increased significantly. Despite problems such as bureaucracy, fluctuations in exchange rates, and restrictions on foreign producers, Brazil remains an attractive market. In conclusion, it was found that budget expenditures on healthcare in Brazil are growing, as the country requires innovative medical solutions. Exporters can succeed if they cooperate with experienced distributors and understand the local business environment.
