Sairastuneen omahoidolla on tärkeä merkitys sairauden etenemisessä. Oppaan tavoite on auttaa sairastuneita omahoidon toteuttamisessa ja tätä kautta vähentää sairaalajaksoja ja estää sairauden pahenemisvaiheita.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä yhteistyössä Mäntsälän terveysaseman akuuttiosaston henkilökunnan kanssa. Henkilökunnalle lähetettiin sähköisesti omahoito-opas ja lyhyt mielipidekysely, johon he vastasivat.
Heart failure affects 1–2 % of the population and age clearly increases the risk of developing the disease. Heart failure is not a disease but a syndrome that can result from coronary heart disease and various heart diseases. Heart failure is a burden on health care, and for this purpose a self-care guide was produced in addition to the thesis. Self-care of the patient has an important role in the progression of the disease. The goal of the self-care guide is to help the patients in implementing self-care and by this reduce hospital periods and prevent the worsening phases of the disease.
The thesis was implemented as a functional thesis in cooperation with the staff of the Mäntsälä Acute Department. The staff were sent an electronic self-care guide and a short survey to which they responded. The guide was consistent, clear and easy to read. It also included the ability to record your own measurement results and notes.
The results of the opinion poll were good. The staff appreciated the appearance, consistency, and conciseness of the self-care guide. In their opinion the guide suits well patients in different stages of the disease. They felt that the guide could also be used in other wards for patients with heart failure.
