React is one the most popular libraries for developing single page applications. Since React was first re-leased in 2013, it has grown both, in popularity and in its way of providing the best possible development experience to its many users. It is often misunderstood and misused, as the understanding of React’s role in application development pipeline is sometimes unclear to developers.
Because of its changes to how it handles data flow and Lifecycle methods, the need for a new set of React best practices arouse. Literature from books and online resources in combination with some personal projects were used to establish the information presented here. A study on application performance between different Front-End development technologies, was used to validate this need.
The best practices found here outline the changes to way developers need to approach application de-velopment inside the React development environment to best optimize and manage their application performance. The general organization of application structure is mentioned in the context of optimizing the quality of the development project.
The targeted readers are web developers and React developers specifically. As such, it assumes prior knowledge of JavaScript and React, as the focus in on new features and methods and how to best utilize in the application development process.
