Performance appraisal is a discussion organized periodically between an appraisee and appraiser, that are in most cases, employee, and their closest manager. Performance appraisals are part of a company’s strategic management.
This thesis is a case study of the effectiveness of current performance appraisal and its’ preparation form in Auto-Kilta Oy from the company’s and employee’s point of view and to produce a development suggestion.
The research for this thesis was conducted by qualitative research methods by holding interviews and sending a survey to the two subject groups.
Data acquired from the interviews and surveys indicated that current performance appraisal and the preparation form are ineffective and past oriented. The company and employees showed interest on future oriented performance appraisal and as a development suggestion, the author developed a new preparation form and analysis of the results.
