Tiivistelmä
The thesis was written for Ramboll Finland Oy company, Lappeenranta department. The purpose of the study was to apply Tekla Structures software for the modeling of steel structures for supported excavations.
The theoretical part describes the retaining structures that are used in supported excavations today. The information was collected from Finnish and European manufacturers and con-forms to modern construction methods. Moreover, the principles of the geotechnical calculations of sheet pile walls were described. The results of calculations were presented in the example of the project provided by the company. The same project information was used as the initial data for illustration of the structural calculations of steel sheet pile wall. The algorithm of calculations was demonstrated based on RILs’ and Eurocodes’ standards.
The calculated sheet pile wall was modeled using Tekla Structures software. The exported IFC model of the structure can be used to overview and present the project in future. The information-filled model reflects all the characteristics mentioned in Finnish Talogeotekniikan tietomalliohje standards. Moreover, the guide to using the software for geotechnical design in Ramboll was created. The tutorial allows to use the Tekla Structures for future projects thus optimize the modeling process of sheet pile walls.
