Tiivistelmä
The developmental objective of this thesis is to improve the level of organisational resilience of the case company while supporting the intention of growth. The beneficiary, the case company, is a Finnish growth company operating in IT and solutions business. The developmental task was to first analyse the current state of organisational resilience of the case company and to create a working plan consisting of recommended steps for improving the level of resilience. The main method for data gathering was interviews.

The underlying assumption and starting point of this thesis is that the organisational skills that indicate organisational resilience can complement the skills that are needed for growth. To grow a company must be resilient and not only survive challenging times but to thrive on them. Improved resilience is likely to have positive transference on all the operations of the case company. The case company has grown rapidly over the last few years and has plans to further expand its operations, so the aspect of growth is a central theme in this thesis.

The theoretical framework can be divided into two parts, the first presenting the theory related to evolution of organisations and more specifically, high-growth companies. The life cycle model of growing organisations is introduced in the theory base and later applied in reviewing the results. The second part of the theory base discusses resilience and more specifically, organisational resilience. In conclusion these two dimensions of organisational theory are combined to create a conceptual model of organisational capabilities that support both organisational resilience and growth.

The key results of the thesis were that the overall level of organisational resilience of the case company is high, especially in the level of anticipation and proactiveness. The recommended developmental steps to further improve the resilience of the case company in the final result, the development plan, dealt with organisational structure, clarification of roles and responsibilities and formalisation of operations and systems.
