VIBES : a multi-perspective tool to break complex problem spaces into concrete action plans

Abstract

Many kinds of problems are faced daily. Some of the problems are very mundane, but some are more complicated, complex even. Especially with these more complex issues, the solutions can be hard to come to. The solutions can have massive impact – good or bad, depending on the solution. Not to mention the costs that can easily be millions when talking about business decision in larger corporations. Therefore, it is essential to be able to come to the best possible solution. However, there are no tools to guide through the whole problem-solving process currently in the market. Clearly there is a need for such a solution.

This thesis presents VIBES tool and its development process. VIBES tool aims to be a multi-perspective tool that organizations globally use when breaking complex problem spaces down to concrete actions plans. The tool has been created with agile approach that included prototype testing in collaboration with LAB University of Applied Sciences students as well as with Erasmus+ funded VIBES – Virtual Business Skills Empowerment project.

The first version of the VIBES tool, along with templates and instructions is presented in this document.
