Tiivistelmä
Textile and garment business is growing at a high rate since clothing demand rises fast. The clothing industry in Bangladesh helps to afford the socio-economic growth. The large amount of production of textile and clothing leaves a huge amount of solid waste and causing a lack of raw material. Environmental degradation and loss of financial gain are also prime concern in Bangladesh due to unsustainable garment waste management.
Upcycling and recycling the wastes is a possible solution to this problem. This is a creative and sustainable way where waste is reused to make a new product. This study intends to provide a vast analysis of the garment waste management system in Bangladesh and find the suitable way of a sustainable alternative waste management tool. The data collected from the survey was analysed extensively to find out which one is the best option between recycling and upcycling. Even though there are still some barriers applying upcycling, still maximum online survey participants showed positive attitude towards upcycling.
