Tiivistelmä
The purpose of the thesis was to create a guideline manual explaining module seven of the maritime engine room online simulator to help future students, making learning and familiarization of the simulator faster, effective and more didactic.
Module seven of the simulator, basically explains the connections, displays and steps to be followed when operating all kind of elements connected from the bridge to the engine room, giving importance to control panels and main system working explanations related with navigation, safety and other equipment.
The thesis was developed by two students from bridge and engine departments, so concepts from both areas could be better defined. All the knowledge represented in the work was obtained during our respectively on-board training periods, from our officers and manuals which we were allowed to use while on-board.
The result obtained from the guideline is mainly to understand the importance about following steps when operating systems onboard vessels to improve safety and optimise to the maximum the functionality of the vessel. The contribution made with the creation of the guideline is the aid that this paper will be for future students when having to operate the simulator.
