The research also entails a synthesize prior research studies on the use of music as a non-pharmacological intervention for depression to contribute to existing literature that nurses and other healthcare professionals can utilize.

The research focused on developing a literature synthesis based on evidence collected from various academic databases in accordance with the research questions. The study focused on reviewing the scholarly materials based on the developed research questions. The findings were presented to ensure that all the research questions are addressed comprehensively. The literature review process was completed in four stages: finding credible databases, screening, and analysis.

Evidence indicated that music as a non-pharmacological intervention for treating depression is compelling. It was also evident that non-pharmacological treatment options are more effective when combined with pharmacologic interventions. music is an effective treatment intervention for patients with anxiety and depressive disorders. The study finding also recommends incorporating music in connection to other pharmacological treatments to enhance patient outcomes. Further research should therefore focus on validating the current research finding by conducting evidence-based research using mixed-method research. The study also recommends identifying a target population and setting to enhance the validity and generalization of the study outcome.
