Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of leadership on retention. The study attempts to answer the question “How does leadership affect retention?” followed by the subquestions “What leadership styles are best suited for modern times?” and “Why is retention necessary for a company?”.
The primary data used for this thesis was gathered through a survey. This survey aimed to gather individual perspectives on what skills leaders should possess and if leadership has caused them to quit a job.
The survey was split into two factors to gain the perspectives of both leaders and employees. The survey for leaders had 13 questions, and the survey for employees had 12 questions. Both were comprised of both multiple-choice and open-answer questions. The number of participants in the survey was 66.
Secondary data was collected through carefully selected books, online articles, and other studies.
The conclusion of the studies shows that a leader significantly affects retention. A “bad” leader is one of the key factors for an employee to want to move/quit jobs. A “good” leader could be a key factor for an employee to want to stay in a job.
