Psykiatrisen potilaan kohtaaminen terveyskeskuksen vuodeosastolla sairaanhoitajan näkökulmasta

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön aiheena oli psykiatrisen potilaan kohtaaminen terveyskeskuksen vuodeosastolla sairaanhoitajan näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää sairaanhoitajien kokemia psykiatrisen potilaan kohtaamisessa esiintyviä haasteita ja löytää kehittämiskohteita psykiatrisen potilaan kohtaamisesta. Opinnäytetyön lopuksi tehtiin kooste opinnäytetyön tuloksista, joka lähetettiin sähköisesti terveyskeskussairaalan osaston henkilökunnalle.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena tutkimuksena. Aineisto kerättiin yksilöhaastattelemalla osaston sairaanhoitajia. Haastattelut toteutettiin teemahaastatteluna ja niihin osallistui viisi sairaanhoitajaa. Haastattelut nauhoitettiin, litteroitiin tekstimuotoon ja analysoitiin sisällönanalyysilla.

Opinnäytetyön tuloksien mukaan kohtaamisella on suuri vaikutus hoidon lopputulokseen. Vastauksissa korostui psykiatrisen potilaan kohtaaminen yksilölliset tarpeet huomioiden. Potilaskohtaamisien kehittämisideoiksi nousi ajan ja resurssien lisääminen, lisäkoulutuksen järjestäminen, hoidon jatkuvuus ja hoitajien oikeanlainen asenne potilaan kohtaamiseen.

Valinta opinnäytetyön aiheelle muodostui opinnäytetyön tekijöiden omasta kiinnostuksesta aiheeseen ja lopullinen opinnäytetyön tutkimusidea syntyi terveyskeskussairaalan vuodeosaston osastonhoitajalta, joka koki tarvetta kehittää potilaskohtaamisia osastolla. Opinnäytetyö tehtiin terveyskeskussairaalan osastolle, joka on profiloitunut mielenterveys- ja päihdehoitotyöhön.

The subject of this thesis was the encounter of a psychiatric patient in a health center bed ward from a nurse's point of view. The objective of the thesis was to identify the challenges experienced by nurses in encountering a psychiatric patient and to find development targets in relation to encountering a psychiatric patient. At the end of the thesis, an electronic compilation of the results of the thesis was produced for the staff of the health center hospital department.

The thesis was carried out as a qualitative study. The data was collected through individual interviews with nurses in the ward. The interviews were conducted as a themed interview and involved five nurses. The interviews were recorded, transcribed into text form, and analyzed using content analysis.

According to the results of the thesis, the encounter has a major impact on the out-come of treatment. The psychiatric patient should be confronted with individual needs in mind. Increasing time and resources, providing additional training, continuity of care and the right attitude of caregivers to patient encounters emerged as ideas for developing patient encounters.

The choice for the thesis topic was formed by the thesis authors' own interest in the subject and the final thesis research idea arose from the department nurse of the health center hospital department who felt the need to develop patient encounters in the department. The thesis was made for a ward of the health centre hospital, which is profiled for mental health and substance abuse nursing.
