Tiivistelmä
Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa Tenetin koulun 9.-luokkalaisten kokemuksia omista vuorovaikutustaidoistaan sekä selvittää, tietävätkö he mistä voivat saada tukea vuorovaikutustaitoihinsa. Tavoitteena oli tuottaa tietoa Tenetin koulun 9.-luokkalaisten vuorovaikutustaitojen tämänhetkisestä tilasta
Tenetin koulun oppilashuoltoryhmälle, koska heillä oli herännyt huoli nuorten vuorovaikutustaidoista koulussa. Tutkimuksen toimeksiantajana toimi Kainuun Sote. Tutkimuskysymykset olivat: Millaiseksi 9.-luokkalaiset mieltävät omat vuorovaikutustaitonsa, sekä tietävätkö 9.-luokkalaiset, mistä voivat saada tukea vuorovaikutustaitoihinsa?
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin määrällisenä eli kvantitatiivisena tutkimuksena. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin strukturoidulla kyselylomakkeella Webropol-ohjelmassa. Nuoret vastasivat kyselyyn terveystiedon oppitunneilla
opettajan ohjeistamana lokakuussa 2022. Kyselyyn vastasi yli puolet oppilaista. Opinnäytetyön teoriaosuus
koostuu nuoren psyykkisestä kehityksestä, mielenterveydestä sekä vuorovaikutustaidoista.
Kyselyn perusteella todettiin, että Tenetin koulun 9.-luokkalaiset kokivat pääsääntöisesti omaavansa hyvät
vuorovaikutustaidot. He kokivat epävarmuutta selkeästi eniten avun pyytämisessä sekä neuvottelutaidoissa. Kyselyn perusteella suurin osa nuorista tiesivät mistä he voisivat tarvittaessa saada tukea vuorovaikutustaitoihinsa.
The purpose of this thesis was to study the experiences of ninth graders at Tenetti Secondary School of
their interaction skills and to find out whether they knew where to receive support for their interaction
skills if needed. The aim was to provide the pupil welfare group in Tenetti with information about ninth
graders’ current interaction skills. This thesis was commissioned by Kainuu Social Welfare and Health Care
Joint Authority. The research questions were the following: how did ninth graders assess their own interaction skills, and did they know where they could find support for their interaction skills?
This thesis was conducted as quantitative research. The research material was collected by using a structured electronic questionnaire made with the Webropol survey program. Ninth graders answered the
questionnaire following the instructions given by their teacher during their health education classes in
October 2022. The questionnaire was answered by more than half of the ninth graders at Tenetti Secondary School. The theoretical frame of this thesis consists of the mental development of adolescents, mental health, and interaction skills.
The results of the survey showed that ninth graders at Tenetti mainly experienced having good interaction skills. They clearly felt most insecure about asking for help from others and about their negotiation
skills. Based on the survey, most ninth graders knew where they could find support for their interaction
skills when needed. However, it is notable that a remarkable number of the ninth graders weren’t sure
where they could find support if necessary. Family and friends were considered the most suitable options
where to ask for support.
These results give important information for the pupil welfare group at Tenetti as it is unclear for some
ninth graders where they can find support if they need it. Therefore, it could be useful to increase ninth
graders knowledge about all kinds of possibilities for support regarding interaction skills, especially in a
school environment. The Tenetti pupil welfare group also had some concerns about the interaction between ninth graders and their parents. Therefore, it is positive to notice that according to the results
ninth graders felt that they are listened to at home and their parents are interested about their life.
