Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyössä selvitettiin asiakkaiden kokemuksia etäfysioterapiasta. COVID-19-pandemia on korostanut etäfysioterapian hyödyntämistä pääasiallisena hoitomuotona.
The purpose of this study was to investigate customers´ experiences of telephysiotherapy. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the utilization of telephysiotherapy as the main form of treatment. Collecting customer experiences helps to show what already works in telephysiotherapy, as well as to detect problems and development targets. With the identified problems, physiotherapists can develop their teleworking in the future and increase customer satisfaction.
The method of data collection was a semi-structured interview. There were four interviewees, three female and one male. All interviews were conducted in spring 2022 via remote connection as individual interviews. The recorded data was transcribed and analysed with a data-based qualitative content analysis.
The participants had both positive and negative expectations of telephysiotherapy. The negative expectations, especially in terms of effectiveness and professionalism, should be influenced so as not to negatively affect participation in telephysiotherapy. The challenges of telephysiotherapy became more apparent than the benefits com-pared to in-person physiotherapy. In order for telephysiotherapy to be as high quality as in-person physiotherapy in the future, attention must be paid to the challenges that have been raised. The only direct object of development of remote physiotherapy was a functioning Internet connection. In the future, it would be good to come up with some ways of identifying development targets from customers, because when asked directly, these answers were hardly received.
All participants were satisfied with the telephysiotherapy they received but would continue to choose in-person physiotherapy over telephysiotherapy. By developing the core competencies of physiotherapists, it is possible to reach a situation where telephysiotherapy could be of the same quality as in-person physiotherapy.
