Tiivistelmä
The purpose of this study was to explore individual monetization and the self-employment that could be gained through such endeavours. The end goal was to provide guidelines for people striving to make financial gain through self-employment, or freelancing efforts. The target group chosen for the study were digital artists.
All the data for the study was collected through qualitative interviews with self-employed artists that met the pre-set criteria of the study. The interviews were carried out over voice call, or text chat according to the participant’s preference.
As a result of the study, it can be concluded that monetization as a self-employed artist is a multifaceted process that requires a variety of expertise from organizational to marketing and sales skills. It is a valid means of building an individual brand but comes with its own share of challenges.
