Around the world, mini houses have been a growing trend for a few years and will continue to spread. In recent years, mini houses and especially small single-family houses have attracted interest also in Finland and Finnish house builders and customers.
The aim for this bachelor’s thesis was to introduce some areas which use mini houses. The purpose was also the availability of living house types in the current market. During the thesis writing process main objective was to introduce and visualize the concept of mini houses especially in rural context and the opportunity to use then in a village area.
The data collection and analysis of information from different resources includes existing environments, relevant research literature or construction company documents. It is possible to design a draft of mini house plan and its adaptation in the area of Kalkkinen, Asikkala.
The thesis report illustrates and describes project of mini houses. As a result of collecting information obtained in the process of research on the traditions of Finnish rural houses, a mini-house village project with a planning area for building was presented.
