Tiivistelmä
Opinnäytetyön aiheena oli lapsen terveydentilan arvioiminen ABCDE-protokollan mukaan. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten lapsen terveydentilaa arvioidaan hyödyntäen ABCDE-protokollaa ja tuoda esille lapsipotilaan erityispiirteitä. Tavoitteena oli tuottaa ajantasainen, tutkittuun näyttöön perustuva opas LAB-ammattikorkeakoululle hoitotyön opiskelijoille oppimateriaaliksi.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kuvailevan kirjallisuuskatsauksen avulla. Aineisto analysoitiin laadullisen analyysin perusmenetelmällä, teemoittelulla. Kirjallisuuskatsauksen aineiston haussa käytettiin Cinahl, Google Scholar, LUT Primo, Medic ja PubMed tietokantoja. Aineistoa haettiin myös manuaalisesti ja alan kirjallisuudesta.
Tuloksena onnistuttiin tuottamaan tavoitteiden mukainen ja selkeälukuinen opas lapsipotilaan systemaattisesta tutkimisesta ABCDE-protokollan mukaan. Opas lisäsi tärkeän komponentin sairaanhoitajien lastenhoidon koulutusosuuteen, josta uudet terveysalan opiskelijat LAB-ammattikorkeakoulussa hyötyvät. Assessing a pediatric patient's state using the ABCDE-protocol was the topic of this thesis. The purpose of this thesis was to investigate how a pediatric patient's state of health may be assessed implementing the ABCDE-protocol and highlight characteristics of a pediatric patient. The objective was to provide nursing students at LAB University of Applied Sciences with an up to date, evidence-based information manual as a study tool.
The thesis was executed as a descriptive literature review. Thematic analysis was utilized as a qualitative analysis method to inspect the data. Material for the literature review was retrieved from Cinahl, Google Scholar, LUT Primo, Medic, and PubMed databases. Additionally, material was manually searched, and included from the field's literature.
As a result, a coherent manual of how to systematically assess the state of a pediatric patient using the ABCDE-protocol was achieved. The manual added a valuable component to the pediatric care scheme of the nursing program, which benefited healthcare students at the LAB University of Applied Sciences.
