The purpose of this study was to investigate the criteria and indicators for good claims reporting in logistics and operations. Furthermore, the aim was to create a global claims report for the case company based on the findings in the theory basis and collected data.
The research was carried out with qualitative method and with functional approach in working life development project. The data for the claims report was collected from different internal resources of the company and the data collection methods also included discussions with the relevant internal stakeholders during the development work.
Global claims reporting of logistics and operations covers many different types of claims and because of that the claims report was divided into four parts, which are ERP data report, summary of ongoing claims, insurance claims and claims in operative teams. Based on the findings, it was discovered that high-quality claims reporting should be accurate, comparable, consistent, relevant, simple, and timely.
The research showed that claims reporting provides essential information for several internal stakeholders in the company, and it can be used for loss prevention and decision-making purposes. In addition, it became clear that consistent and relevant claim reporting is needed quarterly for each region in the company.
