The concepts of business resilience and crisis management have always been crucial to the growth and survival of various businesses in different sectors. Their importance was proven with the appearance of Covid-19, which brought about radical changes to the tourism and hospitality industry. With my interests, and as the topic is very current, crisis management in the context of a hotel's resilience was chosen as the topic for this thesis.
A hotel was chosen as a case study, which was Da lat Palace hotel. The hotel’s longstanding history, reputation, and geographical advantage were taken into consideration, leading to this decision.
A literature review was conducted before the gathering of empirical data. Qualitative methodology was chosen as the approach to both gather and analyze the necessary data. A qualitative interview was arranged with the assistant director of Da Lat Palace hotel, after which all the acquired data were analyzed using qualitative analysis.
The data concluded that the hotel had experienced pandemics before, which resulted in their crisis management knowledge. Although they are not familiar with the concept of business resilience, they are aware of some of its principles. As a result, despite being in the recovery stage, Da Lat Palace hotel was able to survive while maintaining a competitive edge. This is in line with the literature review.
