This thesis aims to investigate the implementation of VoIP redundancy on the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (UCM) service platform. The rapid adoption of VoIP technology in modern enterprises has led to an increased demand for reliable and highly available communication systems. Therefore, the need for redundancy mechanisms that ensure seamless communication in the event of system failures is of utmost importance. Thus, in this thesis, the aim is to establish a secondary site, which works as a redundancy site.
The study begins with an overview of VoIP technology. It then delves into the Cisco
UCM service platform, its architecture, and its various components. The research explores the redundancy mechanisms available on the Cisco UCM, including server redundancy and device redundancy.
The thesis analyzes the effectiveness of these mechanisms and compares them to best practices to determine their adequacy in meeting the demands of modern enterprises. The study then focuses on the use of Wireshark, a network protocol analyzer, to capture and analyze VoIP traffic in a redundant environment.
