The definition of green technology is discussed and the representative water treatment technology is evaluated in this thesis. It is believed that green technology should be defined as a technology that can simultaneously meet the three basic requirements of advanced technical and economic indicators, non-toxic and non-polluting environment. Although the advanced oxidation technology, electro catalytic oxidation, supercritical water oxidation, ultrasonic degradation technology and membrane treatment technology under research and development are not perfect, they can be considered as green water treatment technologies. Whether chemical method is a green technology depends on whether the products used meet the requirements of green chemistry. The ideal green technology is zero discharge technology, which represents the development direction of water treatment technology in the 21st century.
