Tiivistelmä
The main objective of the thesis was to examine how agile business intelligence (agile BI) can be implemented successfully in remote teams. The paper reviewed strategies that can be used to optimize agile BI processes, techniques that can be applied to keep employees and external stakeholders engaged, and suggestions for selecting suitable tools and technologies.
The qualitative research used an abductive approach by first providing a theoretical study on the topic where the concept of agile BI was introduced and the challenges that remote environments bring to agile BI projects were discussed. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted to professionals from companies that use agile methodologies in their BI units. The objective of the interviews was to collect a series of best approaches and practices for remote agile BI teams.
The findings of the study demonstrate that there are several critical success factors for agile BI in remote teams. Firstly, organizations should establish and implement clearly defined goals and policies. Continuous communication should be encouraged to avoid information silos in a team, and frequent reskilling and upskilling are necessary to keep team members motivated.
In addition, a successful remote agile BI project requires further flexibility in terms of technology. Tools and processes should be adapted to each project individually and extra resources ought to be allocated to functioning, scalable technologies. Lastly, consistent virtual meetings, time-boxing and task schedules ensure more efficient collaboration and goal achievement.
