The objective of this thesis was to research and create a guidebook of a sort to increase the understanding of telematics solutions. The purpose of the thesis is to show the benefits of telematics for companies. Thesis gives an introduction to old and new solutions and compares those to show the benefits of business development.
The thesis includes two parts, theoretical part and implementation example. The theoretical part first introduces the topic of telematics and its typical uses in company logistics. Then the old and new systems of monitoring and managing company logistics were presented which were then compared to show the benefits of developing company logistics with newer solutions. The second part included giving an implementation example and developing company’s logistics and economy by doing that. This gives businesses a look onto why they should investigate telematics and develop their logistics further with it.
Companies should always seek on developing their businesses and therefore business logistics. It was stated that telematics can be an excellent tool to use, when bringing more value to the company, but without good management it gives minimum benefits.
Markets are competitive and costs are high. Companies have to find solutions to develop their products, save costs and keep their production effective in addition to being profitable. Telematics solutions are one of the logistics tools that can bring the company value by various ways as can be seen from the thesis.
