Tiivistelmä
Sähkön hinta on noussut Euroopassa vuodesta 2021 lähtien johtuen mm. Euroopan maakaasuvarantojen riittämättömyydestä ja vähäisestä uusiutuvan energian tuotannosta. Viimeisimpänä Venäjän aloittaman hyökkäyssodan myötä venäläiset energiatoimitukset jouduttiin lopettamaan, jolloin energian hinnat lähtivät voimakkaaseen nousuun.
Opinnäytetyö tehtiin toimeksiantona Kommunikoiva energia -hankkeelle. Sen tarkoituksena oli tutkia, miten kohonneet energiakustannukset vaikuttavat tai ovat jo vaikuttaneet pohjoiskarjalaisten maaseutuyritysten toimintaan ja kykyyn kehittyä. Lisäksi tarkoituksena oli selvittää, esiintyykö yrityksissä energiaköyhyyttä. Tavoitteena oli tuoda ymmärrystä pohjoiskarjalaisten maaseutuyritysten tilanteesta nyt, kun energian hinnat ovat nousseet ja energiamurros on kiihtynyt. Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena haastattelemalla pohjoiskarjalaisia maaseutualueen PK-yrittäjiä. Haastatteluita tehtiin 10, jotka kerättiin helmi-maaliskuussa 2023.
Tulosten mukaan nousseet energian hinnat olivat selvästi vaikuttaneet yritysten toimintaan, ja yrittäjät olivat joutuneet tekemään paljon erilaisia säästötoimenpiteitä. Energiaköyhyyttä ei yrityksissä suoranaisesti tunnistettu, mutta käyttäytymisessä havaittiin siihen sopivia piirteitä. Lisääntynyt epävarmuus heikensi yritysten halua kehittyä. Yrittäjiltä saadut vastaukset olivat hyvin linjassa sen kanssa, mitä tiedämme tällä hetkellä energiakriisin vaikutuksista yritysten toimintaan. Electricity prices in Europe have increased since 2021 due to the inadequacy of Europe's own natural gas reserves and low production of renewable energy. After that, Russia’s war of aggression lead to the abandonment of Russian energy supplies and energy prices started to rise sharply.
This thesis was carried out as an assignment for the Kommunikoiva energia -project. The purpose was to examine how the rising energy costs affect or have already affected to the rural enterprises in North Karelia and their ability to develop. In addition, the purpose was to discover if energy poverty exists in enterprises. The aim was to bring understanding of the situation of rural enterprises in North Karelia now that energy prices have risen, and the energy transition has accelerated. The study was conducted qualitatively by interviewing rural entrepreneurs of small businesses. Ten interviews were conducted, which were conducted in February and March 2023.
According to the results, the increased energy prices had clearly influenced the activities of enterprises and entrepreneurs had to implement a wide range of adaptation actions. Energy poverty was not directly identified by enterprises, but some appropriate characteristics of energy poverty were identified. Increased uncertainty weakened enterprises’ desire to develop. The answers received from entrepreneurs were well in line with what we know at the moment about the impact of the energy crisis on businesses.
