As the world's energy needs continue to grow due to accelerated industrialisation, fossil fuels are being depleted at a faster rate and biofuels are becoming increasingly important in order to stop this from continuing.
Biofuels come in many forms and this report begins with an introduction to the different types of biofuels. The main focus is on bioethanol, a liquid biofuel, and biodiesel as the main focus, intro-ducing the raw materials for production, the process, and the worldwide use. The thesis report will discuss the characteristics of biofuels compared to fossil fuels and the significant impact the use of biofuels will have on the world's energy and environment.
Finally, the report discusses the application of sustainable development to biofuel production and use, and possible future directions that could have a positive impact.
