The topic of the thesis - how to help children adjust to kindergarten comes from my concerns and interests. I think I didn't handle it well when I faced this situation for the first time in my first practice placement. That’s why I want to do more research on this topic. And I hope it can somehow help newcomers in early childhood education and people who are interested in it.
This functional thesis aims to clarify the importance of the procession in the transition stage to adjust to a new kindergarten. What do parents worry about from their perspective and what does the teacher usually do when facing this kind of situation?
The data was collected through interviews with five early childhood educators and five parents from my workplace - a Finnish and English language kindergarten in Helsinki.
This thesis clarifies phonemes in transition-stage children and provides ways to help children adjust to new kindergarten and let parents feel safe to send their children to new kindergarten.
