The data was analyzed with SPSS program.
The results of the research showed the majority of nurses had adequate knowledge about depression and were capable to detect early onset of depression. An amount of 96% (n=74) of the respondents suggested the necessity of acquiring additional information apart from their previous professional education with a few number willingly to acquire additional information. Although depression was seen to be recognizable in early stages, lack of effective interventions to curb it among elderly population was reflected mostly in working environments.
