The crux of strategic management is evidently about doing the right strategic choices. Out of the large set of different possible choices the top management must choose one which give competitive advantage for a company and for which a company actually has the capacity for implementation.
This thesis shows the relation between strategic management and capital structure with strategic choices set model. This thesis describes different models of strategic management and links it with corporate strategy. It analyzes the strategies used by different types of companies currently for funding their projects "internal and external fund raising" and mostly preferable financing sources for the upcoming projects. In addition, different case companies listed in OMX Helsinki are analyzed and compared with market index and the deviations between them with capital structure are explained.
This study also shows the strategic move of firms in according to market choices they made and their particular combination of capital structure.
