The practice of testing a digital model before presenting in real world is called virtual commissioning (VC). This thesis explores on how to use VC techniques to increase efficiency of automation system. The concept of industrial automation, virtual commissioning process, and advantages of VC are first presented. Next, the TIA Portal and Visual Components software tools are utilized for showing the idea of VC. An automation system is designed in visual components and later connected with TIA Portal PLC. Ultimately, a simulation is performed to ensure that VC model performs properly.
