Tiivistelmä
This research work presents quantitative study that aims to evaluate the performance of public and academic libraries by measuring their users satisfaction in the three following areas: (a) library services, (b) infastructure/location and (c) collection and information. The research work was carried out as a case study on the Kokkola City Library and its academic counterpart, the Central Ostrobothnia UAS Library. A questionnaire was developed to access the level of satisfaction received by library users from the three aforementioned sections of the library. The questionnaire was distributed to a total of 40 respondents including students, instructors, patrons and library staff. The survey data was analyzed using mean, median, standard deviation and frequency. The results were computed using Microsoft Excel. The study revealed that users were generally satisfied with the library service quality and location/infrastructure but 'somewhat' dissatisfied with its collection and information. The respondents were most satisfied with the quality of services, followed by location/infrastructure and collection and information The study also revealed individual services rendered by the library producing the highest and lowest satisfactions respectively.
