Tiivistelmä
Toiminnallisen opinnäytetyön aiheena on tulevaisuuden risteilyaluksen yläkansien konseptisuunnittelu. Opinnäytetyö tehtiin toimeksiantona Meyer Turku Oy:lle. Työ on osa NaviSpace hanketta, jonka tavoitteena on kehittää uusia tiedonhankintatapoja ekologisesta kestävyydestä, risteilyalusten turvallisuudesta ja matkustajakokemuksesta. Tarkoituksena on kehittää prosesseja, joiden avulla kerätty tieto saataisiin kiteytettyä konsepteiksi. Tietoa haluttiin esimerkiksi ilmastonmuutoksen vaikutuksista meriin ja laivan rakentamisessa käytettäviin resursseihin, risteilymatkustajien määrän kasvun vaikutuksiin, ja mahdollisesti ratkaisuihin. Toivottiin myös ideoita sellaisista ratkaisuista, jotka mahdollistaisivat tilojen monipuolisemman käytön. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää miten voisi saada vähemmällä enemmän aikaiseksi, sekä tuoda uudenlaisia näkökulmia ja vaihtoehtoja.
Opinnäytetyön kirjallisten lähteiden aiheet olivat ekologisuus ja eettisyys ravintola-ala, matkailu, laivan suunnittelu, laivan rakennus ja Turun telakan historia.
Kirjallisten lähteiden lisäksi opinnäytetyössä hyödynnettiin Meyer Turun henkilökunnan kattavaa osaamista risteilyalusten suunnittelusta. Koko opinnäytetyön prosessin ajan ideoita päästiin jakamaan Meyer Turun konseptisuunnittelutiimin kanssa. Tästä oli huomattava apu, sekä ideoiden kehityksen, että risteilyaluksen konseptisuunnittelun ymmärryksen osalta.
Luonnostellut tilakonseptit vastaavat erilaisiin ongelmiin, ainutkaan ei kaikkiin, eikä välttämättä kaikki yhdessäkään kaikkiin. Tarkoitus on kuitenkin, että ne pitkällä aikavälillä muuttaisivat risteilyjä ylipäänsä eettisemmiksi ja ekologisemmiksi.
Työn lopputuloksena syntyy tilakonsepteja risteilyaluksen yläkansille. Jokaisessa tilassa on koitettu ottaa huomioon jokin prosessin aikana ilmennyt näkökulman. The topic of the functional thesis is the concept design of the upper decks of a cruise ship of the future. The thesis was commissioned by Meyer Turku Oy. The work is part of the NaviSpace project which aims to develop new ways of obtaining information on ecological sustainability, cruise ship safety and the passenger experience. The aim is to develop processes that would allow the collected data to be encapsulated into concepts. Information was sought, for example, on the effects of climate change on the seas and the resources used in ship construction, the effects of the increase in cruise ship passengers, and possibly solutions. There was a wish for ideas for solutions that would enable a more versatile use of the premises. The thesis aimed to find out how more could be done with less and to bring new perspectives and alternatives.
The topics of the bibliography of the thesis were ecology and ethics, the restaurant industry, tourism, ship design, shipbuilding and the history of the Turku shipyard.
In addition to the written sources, the thesis utilised the comprehensive expertise of Meyer Turku staff in cruise ship design. Throughout the process of the thesis ideas were shared with Meyer Turku's concept design team. This was a great help, both in terms of developing ideas and understanding the concept design of the cruise ship.
The space concept sketches answer different problems, not one all, and not necessarily even all answer every problem. However, the intention is that in the long term, they would make cruises more ethical and ecological in general.
The results of the work create space concepts for the upper decks of a cruise ship. In each space, the goal has been to take into account an aspect that emerged during the process.
