Tiivistelmä
This thesis investigates international students' interactions with LapTOp ry's support at a Finnish university, using Social Network Theory's homophily and mutuality concepts. The quantitative survey revealed students' need for improved communication and more interaction opportunities with local peers, highlighting homophily tendencies. Challenges, including linguistic barriers and insufficient practical support, reflected areas of unexploited mutuality, affecting academic and social experiences. The study emphasizes enhancing support structures, advocating inclusive environments that acknowledge student diversity and promote engagement, critical for international students' well-being and academic success.
