The thesis studies the challenges in reverse logistics that small medium enterprises in Finland face during economic recession. Reverse logistics plays an important role in circular economy and sustainable supply chain management. Small medium enterprises play an important role in the economy. The economic recession affects every aspect of the economy. Thus, performance of reverse logistics in small medium enterprises during economic recession is studied in order to investigate even the smallest challenges and improve them.
The research objection is studied by analyzing the impacts of economic recession, studying the general reverse logistics process of small medium enterprises and noticing which reverse logistics activities are impacted by economic recession. The thesis uses inductive qualitative methods in its research.
The research finds out that customer behavior and income statement of small medium enterprises are affected by the increase of delivery cost. Further empirical validation is required to ensure the findings of the thesis.
