The proper implementation of infection control and prevention (ICP) helps to minimize infection in different healthcare settings. Healthcare personnel can reduce the risk of infection by using standard precautions. To reduce the infection, simple measures like waste management, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), keeping hands clean, and maintaining hand hygiene should be taken into consideration.
The aim of the thesis was to gain knowledge of how the ICP aids in reducing health-associated infection (HAI) and to know how healthcare workers follow the standard precaution method in hospitals while giving care to patients.
The purpose of this thesis was to help broaden the knowledge regarding how infection control and prevention minimize infections and why is it necessary to implement ICP strategies by healthcare workers.
This thesis utilized the portfolio method along with available scientific materials from Google Scholar, PUBMED, and EBSCO. During the clinical placements, the data was actively collected from three distinct locations. Observation, critical analysis, and reflection were all included in the learning diary.
The result of the thesis shows how is ICP handled in different healthcare settings. In all three of the healthcare settings, the ICP technique was implemented with effectiveness. Everyone engaged was aware of the harmful consequences of HAIs and followed the usual safety procedures.
