The purpose of this thesis was to develop and implement the content for the “Foundations of Web Development” study unit in Canvas, commissioned by Laurea University of Applied Sciences. The primary goal was to enhance the learning experience for students in modules 1 to 3. The beneficiaries of this project were the university, study unit lecturers and students.
The development task involved a comprehensive approach, including a literature review, content creation, and theoretical groundwork covering essential aspects of the Internet, the World Wide Web, as well as foundational concepts of HTML and CSS. The theoretical framework established the knowledge base necessary for a thorough understanding of web development fundamentals.
A systematic process was employed to curate and organize content. This included an extensive review of relevant literature, online learning best practices, and the application of instructional design principles. The implementation phase utilized Canvas as the learning management system, ensuring accessibility and user-friendly navigation.
Key results include the creation of engaging and informative learning modules. The outcomes of the project not only provide students with a solid theoretical foundation but also foster practical skills in web development. The analysis of results highlights the successful integration of theoretical knowledge and practical application, contributing to an enriched learning experience. The findings emphasize the importance of a well-rounded theoretical framework and practical exercises in enhancing students' proficiency in web development.
