The purpose of this thesis is to understand the current state of the mobile payment market in Finland and what the trends in the mobile payment market are in the light of COVID-19. In this thesis, the authors used a questionnaire to collect responses about mobile payments in Finland. In Finland, mobile payments do not seem to be developing very quickly, with people still preferring to pay by credit card and the market share of mobile payments is not high, unlike in other Nordic countries. In China, on the other hand, mobile payments are booming and growing at a fast pace, and traditional credit cards or cash are no longer popular in the Chinese market, forming a uniform and organized system.
Therefore, the author has researched this topic to understand the market for mobile payments in Finland. The data collected is compared and analysed to investigate and analyse the market for mobile payments in Finland, with the aim of suggesting improvements to the development of mobile payments in Finland.
