In response to the continental shift in global tourism dynamics caused by the COVID-19 pan-demic, this study aimed to determine how smart tourism technology can serve as a driving force to improve the visitor experience in Vietnam. This research topic was chosen due to the need to adapt to the new norm in the tourism industry and leverage the potential of technology to revitalize the industry. Vietnam, a rapidly growing tourist destination, provided an essential context for this investigation.
To achieve the research objective, an all-encompassing method of survey analysis was utilized. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to establish a solid theoretical foundation. After COVID-19, structured surveys were administered to visitors who had direct experience with smart tourism technologies in Vietnam to collect data. Survey analysis was used to obtain insight into the associations between technology adoption and visitor experience dimensions. This study focused solely on survey-based data analysis to ensure a quantitative examination of the topic.
The findings demonstrate that smart tourism technology plays a crucial role in enhancing the experience of Vietnamese tourists. Notable outcomes include an examination of smart tourism technologies adopted in Vietnam, an analysis of factors influencing technology acceptance, and an examination of the role of technology in sustainable development and post-pandemic recovery efforts. While smart technology promotes convenience, accessibility, and cultural immersion, it also considerably contributes to the tourism industry's sustainable growth in Vietnam. In addition, it aligns the visitor experience with broader societal and environmental objectives, emphasizing safety, sustainability, and the empowerment of local businesses in the post-COVID-19 landscape.
In conclusion, this study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted impact of smart tourism technology, providing valuable insights for the tourism industry, policymakers, and technology developers in Vietnam after COVID-19.
