Lean management in consignment stock processes

Abstract

Purpose of this Thesis was to familiarize with Lean Management values and principles and create a propose how the methods and tools could be used in Consignment stock processes. Objective was investigating of the benefits and possibilities which could be achieved by adapting and implementing methods and tools from Lean Management to the processes of Consignment stock. A concrete goal for the Thesis was to create clear procedures and working instructions in a form of Value Stream Mapping. One ambition was also improving of the process efficiency by removing all unnecessary steps from the process.

Theoretical background of the Thesis firstly is presenting Lean Management history. Secondly the Lean Management principles and concepts are being considered. The Lean operations strategy is being reviewed, and the principles of flow efficiency and efficiency paradox are being presented following by the identification and eliminating of the waste.

Results of the Thesis are presenting conclusions received from the executed developmental research. During the research process developed Value Steam Mapping is being presented. The achieved improvements of the flow efficiency and added value to the Consignment stock process are being proposed and visualized by figures.
