The objective of this work was to research the potential for starting a Physio-therapy, Pilates and GYROTONIC® studio to include the business model, financing requirements, ongoing operational costs, and a pricing strategy which would allow the business to become profitable. The product is a simple business plan which could be utilized to obtain support and/or funding from banks and business support organizations.
This work began with defining the business´s operational concept and core values. These were utilized to create the mission, vision, and purpose statements which form the basis of the business model. Osterwalder and Pigneur´s Business Model Canvas (BMC) tool was used to create the business model and delineate the specific components such as key activities and the important value proposition. The target customer segment was further clarified with the use of the Customer Avatar Canvas.
Startup financial requirements and funding possibilities were identified and ongoing operational costs were projected. The operational costs and available units for sale form the basis of the pricing strategy, which was calculated with the goal of showing a modest profit in the first year of operation, with revenue growth and reaching capacity at three years. A SWOT analysis was included in order to identify threats and strengths within the business environment.
The results of the calculations were positive. If the customer projections are accurate, the proposed business will show a modest profit in its first year and be poised for growth and expansion after the third year. Communication and marketing will be key to the success of this business.
