This thesis aims to find out the attitudes of young people about the impacts of their food selections and their level of awareness among the roles of vegan food to the environment. Because food has had tremendous impacts on the planet and has resulted in environmental degradation. Therefore, vegan food is one of the most crucial and effective solutions to curb the issues.
The theoretical parts contain essential insights of consumer behaviours related to factors which create and affect a consumer’s buying decision. Also, the impacts of many kinds of diets on the environment and the attitudes of people to food are vital contributions for the empirical part of the study.
The thesis applied the quantitative research for the survey which was conducted in English on public groups and was also sent directly to some targeted people. The questionnaire was published from 14 October to 24 October, 2023 and was reached to The Young Generation in Helsinki Region.
The results have addressed the thesis’s objective and have found out how young persons are aware of their food choices and factors affecting to their eating habits. Also, some recommendations are suggested to encourage less-meat diets in the future.
