Employment possibilities for immigrants and foreigners in Kokkola

Abstract

This thesis reviews the problems and employment oppmtunities for immigrants and foreigners connected to population ageing in Kok.kola. The focus is particularly issues related to the role of immigrants, the shortage of labour force and its potential opportunities. The results indicated that population ageing is a medal with twofold. In one hand, some focus is primarily on negative aspects related to the socio demographic development, such as increasing spending for pensions potential labour shortages, as well as problems in the field of social and health care on the other hand. Yet population ageing also offers opportunities, for example, immigrants avail themselves as a potential solution to Jabour shortage and voluntary work of retirees.
